HALO EFFECT

Halo effect is an emotionally charged 5 piece rock band which combines atmospheric soundscapes, pulsing rhythms, and effects driven guitars to create a melodic, yet edgy alternative sound. Through ads in local papers and on bulletin boards, the group formed in the spring of 2000 in Minneapolis, MN. While honing their live performance, they have played local venues including the Cabooze, 7th St. Entry, 400 Bar, Bryant Lake Bowl, Eclipse Records, and the Frederick Weisman art museum on the University of Minnesota campus. In March of 2001 the band released their debut CD-ep "waves". Already the disc is being played on over 100 college stations across the US. Halo effect has also appeared live on Radio K and KFAI in the Twin Cities.

Waves-2001

Waves is a moody, atmospheric, and ethereal experience. We generally don't like to make such comparisons, but Halo Effect does remind us of Radiohead for all the right reasons. Traditional instruments are blended with sounds of electronica throughout smartly crafted songs.
