THE HILLCATS

The Hillcats are a Minneapolis based band that have been together since 1995. Four guys with very diverse musical interests and talents, The Hillcats' music has been described as funky, rootsy, rock with three part vocal harmonies and infectious pop melodies.

In 1996 the Minnesota Music Academy nominated The Hillcats for best new band. Five years and three CD's later they are filling local clubs and making great music.

Lynne Bengston - Music Director at the Fine Line Music Cafˇ

"The Hillcats haven't let roots rock bog them down or define them, working with an array of influences that include pop, funk, jazz, folk, and well... roots rock."
Vicki Gilmer - Minneapolis Star and Tribune

"I can't stop singing their songs in the shower, which makes me want to shower more frequently."
Martin Zellar - Local Musician

Rocket Ship-2001

The Hillcats have matured gracefully on the slickly produced, Rocket Ship. It's their best-sounding, most cohesive album of their three releases. Rocket Ship is a little less funky, but overall, the songwriting is just as strong as anything they have previously released.

Here With The Rest-1998

Lead singer, Billy Johnson, takes more of the spotlight on this, their second release. Unlike their debut, Johnson wrote most of this record and most of the standout songs, including, "I'm the Man", "Red Sweater", and "You". The signature funk from their first release thankfully remains.
