| HONEYDOGS |
|
|
Like his heroes John
Lennon and Ray Davies (and in keeping with current solid-senders
Ron Sexsmith, Jules Shear and--especially--Elvis Costello),
the band's songwriter Adam Levy is a pop formalist who borrows
and adapts liberally from time-tested forms in multiple
genres while indelibly stamping each song with a voice,
world view and sense of irony all his own. Levy's gift for
creating memorable melodic constructs is sweeping, in fact;
there isn't a tossed-off line or an easy rhyme to be found
in the lot; Honeydogs' tunes are all meat--no filler.

Here's
Luck 2000 |
 |
| Here's
Luck
is hands-down the BEST CD we carry
in our catalog. Everything about it
is mind-blowing; the songwriting,
lyrics, orchestration, musicianship....it's
like buttah! Almost every major newspaper
and music publication in the world
gave Here's Luck a glowing
review in 2001. Standout tracks include
"Sour Grapes", "Wilson Boulevard",
and "Pins in Dolls". Here's Luck is
a bit less twangy than Seen a Ghost,
and the songs show a darker, more
mature sound. However, Here's Luck
is an epic musical journey that deserves
numerous listens to really be appreciated.

| Seen
A Ghost 1997 |
|
| This
album introduced the Honeydogs to
much of the world. Seen a Ghost has
a classic, All-American rock n' roll
feel to it that is extremely infectious.
It's mainstream palatability lead
to "Rumor Has It" and "I Miss You"
receiving heavy radio play in certain
pockets of the country and helped
to make Seen a Ghost the Honeydog's
most popular record to date. |
